Week #7- The Blockchain, Balt 318

By now I am sure that you have heard of the fast moving cryptocurrencies.  This new form of currency is run with blockchain technology, where the digital proofing of data is encrypted and stored on a general public ledger in order to decentralize and eliminate unneeded middlemen.

Although these cryptocurrencies come with a lot of volatility, which seems to hold back some investors. What they don't understand is that the background technology can be used in just about ever industry.

For example, Walmart has tested using blockchain for tracking the life of their produce.  The test allowed the supply chain team to exponentially reduce the time and money needed to track the life of a bag of tangerines.

This technology is also being used in the virtual reality and gaming.  Currently, gamers hold multiple virtual assets on multiple games.  Connecting these with blockchain will allow these virtual assets to hold outside value from just the game itself.

I am very excited about the technology called blockchain and what it holds for us in the future.  While these are only a few implementations of the use, the technology alone will be life-changing.

Week #6- Neural Space Network, Balt 318

We all have our opinions on what is really our there in space.  As we know, space is always increasing and currently we do not have the science to know exactly what is out there.

From a business insider article linked below, we can now view many more systems with better accuracy with using neural networks.

This works similarly to the way a babes brain works by seeing images.  If  can observe many more images at a time gaining data and information much faster.

Although I don't know too much on space, I feel that there is still a lot more to be learned from our surrounding solar systems and using this technology can bring us closer to new findings.

Week #5- The Brain Machine, Balt 318

The human brain is truly a magical thing.  All of the neurons in the brain make up the data that we know and the connections of these neurons make our thoughts.

Using the way that our brains works, when implemented in AI, has allowed for many advances in the technology.  Allowing these machines to learn on their own, in a similar way that humans do, while being able to connect and organize a lot more data then a human would be able.

This is very important for science because using the way our brain works in order to understand abstract principles can be used towards the discovery of new principles.

This abstract concept is the ability the understand the bigger picture without needing individual instincts. This allows the understanding of all instincts because the principle is understood.

For example,

These are all shoes.

but what is a shoe? and what makes something a shoe?

We all know what a shoe is without actually seeing others shoes, so that is an abstract principle we have.  We would know the purpose of a pair of shoes if we were to find them randomly.

This can also be used with a math problem and knowing the formula.

Without knowing the formula, you can figure an individual problem out, but it might be a lot harder.

Knowing the formula, you would be able to answer any question in the category.

Week #8- Project Selection, BALT 318

I will be completing my Infographics finial presentation on my company, Bat Bandits.

I am still unsure on exactly what data I will be using in order to explain a story.  As I talked on last week, I have a few ideas that would be helpful to the start up of my company, and am working to find data now.

I currently have two ideas for a Bat Bandits infographic. I could find data on the target market in order to provide the company with valuable data for marketing strategies.  Also, I could create a user journey going through our website in order to show future customers how to create an order.

Week #7- Generating Infographic Ideas, Balt 318

For my final presentation, I have chosen to create my infographics for my own company.  Not only will this provide my company with clear data that is needed, it will also improve my design skills for future work.

A big part in creating a infographic is to have a story to tell.  For my company, I feel that I can tell three stories very well.

First, I can explain my company's market size and find projected sales with data in order to focus in on a target market.  Finding and organizing this information in order to plan out how I will market my business will be very beneficial.  The story will explain how the company will influence the marking strategies to correlate with the data found.

Another possibility would be to explain the experience of the user.  For example, the infographic would explain and show visually how to operate through our website and place an order.  This would be done with a user viewpoint.  This will make the message clear and easy, and also allow customers to go step by step through the process.  This is needed because of the launch of our new website consists of many changes.  This will allow returning users to easily make adjustments and new users an amazing first experience.  Using the information as advertisement would also increase sales.

I have already reached out to some colleagues to discuss witch we felt would work best.  Although both seem important, we need to focus in on one story to be direct and clear.

This semester has been an interesting one.  With many changes, I involved myself in many opportunities that have influenced my future. ...
