Blockchain

This semester has been an interesting one.  With many changes, I involved myself in many opportunities that have influenced my future.

Throughout my learnings, I have realized the future potential in the blockchain technology and have began to pursue the industry.

Recently I was hired for an internship position in the Board of Trade with Chicago Crypto Capital.  I will be researching ICO's and other cryptocurrencies for new opportunities for our investors.  This will give me the skills and knowledge needed in order to move further into the industry.

Along with this, I will be helping with the development of a newer crypto company, CryptoBloc.  This platform is still in the early stages, but I plan to help the company with outside research and testing the trading bots that are under development.

For the summer, I also plan to start building my first computer.  Now, the best part about this, the main purpose of the computer will be to have my own personal miner.  I plan to make the investment in order to open up more opportunities in the industry.

Finally, my crypto addiction moves to my own personal investing.  I have only recently started, but am excited to go full force.  I am currently trading with Coinbase and Binance with a small account.  I plan to add more money as I progress and learn more about the industry in my internships and experiences.

Final Project- Balt 318

For my final project, I created an infographic pitch deck for my company, Bat Bandits.

I give a breakdown of the company, all of the products, and the marketing strategies.  This allows the business to have order in the future.

Week #8- Project Selection, BALT 318

I will be completing my Infographics finial presentation on my company, Bat Bandits.

I am still unsure on exactly what data I will be using in order to explain a story.  As I talked on last week, I have a few ideas that would be helpful to the start up of my company, and am working to find data now.

I currently have two ideas for a Bat Bandits infographic. I could find data on the target market in order to provide the company with valuable data for marketing strategies.  Also, I could create a user journey going through our website in order to show future customers how to create an order.

Week #7- Generating Infographic Ideas, Balt 318

For my final presentation, I have chosen to create my infographics for my own company.  Not only will this provide my company with clear data that is needed, it will also improve my design skills for future work.

A big part in creating a infographic is to have a story to tell.  For my company, I feel that I can tell three stories very well.

First, I can explain my company's market size and find projected sales with data in order to focus in on a target market.  Finding and organizing this information in order to plan out how I will market my business will be very beneficial.  The story will explain how the company will influence the marking strategies to correlate with the data found.

Another possibility would be to explain the experience of the user.  For example, the infographic would explain and show visually how to operate through our website and place an order.  This would be done with a user viewpoint.  This will make the message clear and easy, and also allow customers to go step by step through the process.  This is needed because of the launch of our new website consists of many changes.  This will allow returning users to easily make adjustments and new users an amazing first experience.  Using the information as advertisement would also increase sales.

I have already reached out to some colleagues to discuss witch we felt would work best.  Although both seem important, we need to focus in on one story to be direct and clear.

Week #6- Clients and Sharing, Balt 318

This week I am looking to develop a client list for some freelance infographics work.  A few potential clients in mind include; Bat Bandits and the Benedictine Investment club.

Bat Bandits is a custom baseball sticker and bag tag company that I co-own.  Website coming soon.  I will be continuing my work for the business with future infographics.

The schools investment club has been exceeding the market averages and I would like to show that in an infographic.  I will be reaching out to the President of the Investment Club.

I have finished my intro to the bandits simply infographic that you can now check out online at the link below!

Week #5- Bandits Ad Update,Balt 318

In todays world, every second is worth value.  When creating infographics, you must rememberer that your viewers time is precious.

When charting data, for example, only choose to showcase the important graphs.  Overloading you graphic with charts may put out a lot of information, but in most cases this information will be misinterpreted in some way.  In fact, Storytelling with Data explains that only four visual images with information can be processed by the short-term memory at a time.  Having more graphs will actually give out less information by confusing the reader.

I worked this into my add by just taking out some of the unnecessary words that was basically just fluff.  By doing this, I feel that it will increase the amount of viewers that reach the bottom of the ad, which is the goal.

The bottom of the ad is the selling point.  Working to gather followers on my social media, while at the same time, driving traffic to my website.  This will increase my reaches from my previous ad!

Week #4- Bandits Intro, Balt 318

Creating in infographic with powerpoint using visuals that stand out is important in order to increase clicks.

To start, I went to hubspot.com/templates to download some free power point templets that are perfect starts for any infographic.

After downloading, open the file and take a look at the options.  Find one that stands out and one you believe will fit best for you to get your message across clearly.

I choose the image heavy temp just because I knew I was going to need lots of images.

I'm making an infographic about the new business that I recently started, Bat Bandits.  I am going to use this infographic for some advertisement on my social media platforms.

I started my introducing the already established Bandits.  These are for the sports hockey and lacrosse.  Check out their websites with links listed below!

Then, I went into one of their biggest products, the team bag tags.  This has become a common trend for most sports teams.  I wanted to give a full section to this because I want my future customers to see what we have to offer.

Finally, I go into detail on my business.  This was apart of my story because I want people to know we are credible, see are awesome products, then interact with my site.

Hopefully this will increase this my following to get me ahead of the game.  The website should be up this week with orders ready to be filled.

More on my business journey to come!

Week #3- Big Idea, Balt 318

Well... What's the big idea?

In storytelling, the big idea is exactly what it says it is.  Being able to tell a story in one sentence, and allowing the listener to be able to understand and comprehend.  This allows the audience to get the point of the idea with little time invested.

This may seem impossible, especially when your story deck has over twenty slides.  I find the big idea to be similar to a company's mission statement.  Breaking down the company in order to explain the company in one sentence.

Last semester in my entrepreneurship class, our group created a business plan in order to solve the problem of germs in public places.  This was a very broad problem that could have had lots of solutions.

When getting into the specifics, our group found the problem of having too much information.  When we had to create a one sentence summery of our company, we couldn't simplify everything we knew.

Taking a step back and working on the big idea is very important in staying on track of your goals.  From Storytelling with Data, there are three components to the Big Idea; having a unique point of view, explain the interest, and a full sentence.

Creating the big idea of your business or idea, remember to know who the audience is, what message you are trying to get across, and how you are going to be able to do this.  The big idea should be the base line of the business story.

Week #2- Canva Intro, Balt 318

Today I created my first infographic with the Canva website.  Mainly, I have been looking to make myself a business card for awhile.  Being introduced to this form of content creating,  I dedicated my first project to my personal business card.  I created the card with my new business that I am working on starting.

To start,  I created a Canva account from the website:https://www.canva.com/ You are even able to sign up with your google account.

After walking through the website tour, I began my first infographic.

Using the side bar, I was able to find a temple that matched what I was looking for.

I used the bottom right templet from the above image.

After some editing of the temple, and adding my own information, I was able to make a professional looking business card.  With this card, I plan to edit and print so that I can use them to market myself.

Here is my what they would look like now.

Week #1- Intro Blog, Balt 318

One of the most efficient ways to explain information is through infographics.  You've probably seen lots of these infographics around in places such as; classrooms, offices, and basically anywhere online.

They all have one thing in common, and that is to deliver a message.

This form of communication works so well because of the way humans are 'visually wired' and "that 90% of the information transmitted to your brain is visual. "(canva.com) This means that it is much easier for people to understand images than reading long paragraphs.

I feel that learning how to create these forms of messages will increase my entrepreneurial abilities in many ways.  For example, using these infographics for my marketing ad's and being able to express ideas through visual content.
