How to Start Your Own Business
This is the chapter I have been waiting for in this book. Chapter 12 of WCIYP talks all about starting your own business. I known that starting my own business is my dream. Now, I finally was able to dive deeper into what it takes to make my dreams a reality.
The chapter begins with case studies on the statement "Is it as difficult as we are so often told." This is one thing I hear a lot. With this, I believe that if you want to be successful with business you need to put in to work. Nothing is handed to you, and only you can make yourself successful.
Moving on, one problem many young Entrepreneurs struggle with is starting the process of making a business. This is so common because many people don't like change in their lives, and lots of change is required when starting something new.
The book breaks this down into three sections.
First, write down what is on your mind and keep track of possible ideas. I do this with my notebook on my IPhone, that way I always have it on me.
Next, read up on your ideas. Find out what the industry you would be getting into and find the problem you are working to solve.
Finally, explore what is out there. Gaining background information on the ideas you have will allow you to know what is already on the market and how your product/service can be better.

Week 13- WCIYP MKTG 347
Choosing a career can be very difficult. In chapter 11 of WCIYP, there are helpful tips on how to choose the career meant for you.
First, the best way to find out what you want to do is by using the internet to your advantage. I have been recently talking about the advantages of getting into AI, at the same time, using the internet for personal use can always be helpful.
Now, there are other exercises that can be completed that can help you better understand yourself. With the information gained, you can do your own research on potential jobs that will interest you with the internet.
After you understand yourself and the jobs on the market, the decision becomes yours. Strive to work in a job that you will be truly happy with because in the end you will better off.

Week 10- Self-Inventory WCIYP MKTG 347
Today, I began to read about self inventory and how it can be a helpful method in order to find a job. The personal inventory helps one understand who they really are, but how can this help them with finding a career?
First, knowing who you really are will help you find a career, not just a job. The self inventory method will lead you to know more of the market you want to get in to. This is not only because that is what you have skills for, but it is what you are truly interested in. Many people that are currently employed do not like their jobs. An article from The Washington Post, says that only 13% of people actually like to go to work. This is something we have to do for the rest of our life, so lets chose something we are going to enjoy. Not only will the self inventory help you find where to work, but it can also help in the interview process for that job. You will be able to describe exactly who you are and what you bring to the table in the interview. This allows the one interviewing you to realize that this is actually what you want.
Finding a job can be difficult, but finding a personally enjoyed career is much harder. If you are currently searching for the job you want, first find out who you really are. By using the self inventory method, you may find the right occupation for you. Find your happiness through yourself.

Week 9- Using Hootsuite
Last week I talked about how Hoot-suite is a social media management platform that I was beginning to work with. Today I will be going step by step in how I set up my account, added my networks, and then post it to all of my social media accounts using the platform.
First, I started with making the account. The website has many different plans for exactly what you are looking for. Currently, all I need is the free account for my own social networking. Just by seeing the other plans, I can see how important social marketing can be.
After getting my account logged in and verified, I added my top three social networks. This was made very easy by Hoot-suite because there connection links took you right to a log in page of the account.

With the changing of a few forgotten passwords, all of my social networks were linked to one page.

Now, I am going to post this blog to all of my social media platforms so that you can do the same.
Using Hoot-suite to control your social media platforms takes away unwanted technology stress. This tool changes the game of digital marketing.

Week 7- My Salary WCIYP
When learning about salary negotiation, my mind got moving to what I was going to get paid when I was older. Ever since I was young, money has been important to me. I worked hard and always tried to save everything. Going through many different jobs and hustles to make a buck.
Now, I'm in school studying to be an entrepreneur. So, what will my salary be? This question is the reason why I am excited for my future. The answer is easy, I will be paid for what I do.
The question should not ask how much do you get, but instead how you are going to get it. The answer; simple, I am going to do what I've always done, and that is to go get it. No matter what you are doing, you are working to get the most return. The harder that you work, the more return. I will get paid the amount that I deserve from my work.

Week 6-Interviews WCIYP
The interview process is one challenge that many individuals face when in search for work. I feel that the main reason for this struggle is because people are just not very good at talking to each other. Having face to face communication has become a difficult skill to acquire for most that were raised with technology access.

Now, most would say the technology is the sole reason for this lack of expertise. While technology does make this absence of in-person communication more of a convenience; I feel that the user of the technology is more at fault.
It is your personal choice to put down the phone and do what is needed. Communicating with other people can be very challenging for some, especially when speaking to someone with authority.
My advice, get out and talk to people. When in public, put your phone away and just experience the world. Have conversations with strangers by saying what is on your mind and interacting with those around you. With this will come new communication skills, business connections, and possibly that new job you were looking for. Put the phone down, look up, and live your life.

Week 5- Advertisement Billions
How much money do you think a company makes from advertising? This question may be hard to answer until we know what kind of company is being observed. To get some perspectives, lets look at the digital advertising leaders.
Facebook brought in $9.3 billion in one quarter, with the growth of 45 percent from a year prior. Google had 21 percent increase in earnings with report of $26 billion in total revenue. Now, going back to my question, these companies had a large majority of their total revenue come from advertising. Google had a total of 87% of total revenue and Facebook, with almost all of it, had 98%.
I have been learning more about these ads from the customer stand point with learning how to make these ads and when to use them. The amount of people that are getting this exposure through ads is increasing, and so is the wealth of top companies such as Facebook and Google.

Week 5- MKTG 347 LinkedIn Profile WCIYP
Today I took a look at my LinkedIn Profile. After some reviewing, I realized that my profile did not completely describe who I am and all of the things that I can do.
So what did I do? I got to work.
This was a reality check in some sort of way. I am now a junior in college and the real world is not to far away. I have already made some changes in my profile in order to make it more personal. My next step is to add more descriptive writing on my goals, and also posting more to linkedIn in order to personally network myself.

Week #4- WCIYP New Resume
Technology is one of the most talked about subjects from my blog. This is because technology causes change everywhere. This week I read Chapter two of What Color Is Your Parachute, which talked about how the internet is the new paper resume. Author, Richard N. Bolles, explains how whatever we put on the internet can be either helpful or hurtful to our future job searching process.
Reading the "Edit" section on page 23, we can see that many people make the mistake of posting something that employers would not condone. There is a way to go back and edit your social media to eliminate posts that may not show your best features, but sometimes it can be tricky to remove an item.
This got me thinking, is there a way to clean out your social media all from one platform? After some research, I actually found a website that will help you with your online brand name by cleaning most social media platforms.
I believe that even if you think your social media name is clean, I suggest you take a look. If it comes down to putting in a hour to clean your media or possibly losing a dream job because of a post to Facebook, the choice is yours.

Week #3- WCIYP Job Hunters
Today, I read the first chapter of What Color Is Your Parachute by Richard N. Bolles. The book surprised me on how interesting and helpful it could be to my life. The first chapter talked about the New World for Job-Hunters. Bolles explains how finding a job is very different from what it was like in the past. We as job hunters need to change our job search approach in order to go from a hunter to a hire!
Throughout the reading, my mind began to run with my past experiences of job searching and experiences. I have been in and out of many jobs and going through many interview processes. I feel that most of the tips to becoming a successful job hunter were already enforced in my job searching process. This could from my experiences or that I simply missed the previous way to job hunting.
Bolles mentions that job hunting has mostly moved to online since the year 2008, after the great recession. I am fortunate enough to have grown up with lots of technology advances. Technology has always had my interest and a skill of mine, but there is a lot of room for improvements in my knowledge of technology.
